Philadelphia Jazz Project, in collaboration with Temple University Libraries, WRTI, PhillyCAM, Jazz Near You and other partners present a celebration of John Coltrane's 90th Birthday with 9 days of FREE events in Philadelphia. These events will take place between September 17th to 25th, 2016.

Tri-State Indie and Boom Room Studios present a joyous celebration of John Coltrane's music as interpreted by Hiphop, House and Techno musicians. Featuring WorldTown Sound System and The Living Sample along with special guest Jazz saxophonists Marion Salaam and Larry Price. These two ensembles, which perform with live instruments will push their skills and explore A Love Supreme and other key Coltrane compositions. Be sure to bring a blanket, or a comfortable, folding chair.
The exciting and energetic Worldtown SoundSystem is a live house music band that fuses musical elements from around the world. With members from Jamaica, Nigeria, Brazil, Alabama, Vermont and Philadelphia, it truly captures the essence of global culture through music. This new sound is coming soon to a stage near you, wherever you are in the world!
The Living Sample are the trailblazers of the new wave of hip hop. The group combines the innovation of Golden Age with the raw grittiness of contemporary hip hop, and the heady grooves of acid jazz with razor-sharp synths, acknowledging hip hop's history while pushing the genre fearlessly into the future.
