About The Performers:
TENOR MADNESS
Michael Andrews is a gifted Jazz vocalist, who is often compared to the likes of Johnny Hartman, Arthur Prysock & Joe Williams. Andrews has performed with The Midnight Sun Orchestra, The Jazz Lobsters Big Band and The Clef Club Community Big Band. He has performed at The SugarHouse Casino, Philadelphia Clef Club, Mohonk Mountain House, Washington National Cathedral, Virginia Opera House and many other venues.
George Barron is a Philadelphia-area reedman who plays tenor and soprano saxophone. During his career, Barron has played with some of the top names in jazz, including Lonnie Liston Smith, Norman Connors and Pharoah Sanders. He is the performer, author and producer of two fine albums, Emanations and Chasin' the Rubicon, as well as father of two exceptional musicians, Farid Barron- pianist and Jafa Barron - trumpeter.
Gilberto Cruz is a baritone saxophonist from South Jersey. He attended Camden High School and studied Biology at Rutgers University in Camden, NJ. Cruz has performed as a saxophonist with numerous bands and bandleaders in the Philadelphia area for over 25 years.
Ella Gahnt is a Philly-based Jazz vocalist who has wowed audiences at The Kimmel Center, West Oak Lane Jazz Festival, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Painted Bride Art Center, and the Philadelphia Clef Club. Ella tells musical stories in her own unique way while honoring the vocal legacy of Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Carmen McCrae, Betty Carter and her namesake Ella Fitzgerald.

Carl Grubbs is saxophonist, composer, educator and a Philadelphia native, who makes his home in the Baltimore area. He received his early training from John Coltrane, who was married to his cousin, Naima. He has worked the Visitors, Julius Hemphill Saxophone Sextet, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane, Lafayette Gilchrist, among many others.
Michael Pedicin Jr. is a Philadelphia-bred jazz saxophonist, producer, composer and educator who has roots in The Sound of Philadelphia movement. The son of a Philly musician, Pedicin is a multi-reed artist who plays three saxes; alto, tenor, and soprano, and has a long experience as a session musician and music director at three Atlantic City Casinos. Michael Pedicin Jr. continues to perform and lead his own band in New York City.
Tim Price is a saxophonist, educator and composer from Reading, PA. He teaches at the New School University in New York City. Price's writing on jazz appears regularly in the Saxophone Journal, where he has been a writer for 18 years. Price has performed with Bennie Green, Lew Tabackin, Ray Drummond, Jon Mayer, Jack McDuff, Shirley Scott, Gary Burton, Alan Dawson, Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones, Phil Woods, Rachel Z and many others.

Julian Pressley is an alto saxophonist, born in Philadelphia who lives in North Jersey. During his career, he's worked with Edgar Bateman, Lionel Hampton, Aretha Franklin, Freddie Hubbard, The Four Tops, Panama Francis' Savoy Sultans, The Temptations, Odean Pope's Saxophone Choir, Warriors of the Wonderful Sound and is currently a member of the JC Hopkins Biggish Band.
Saxophonist Sam Reed has been a leading member of the Philadelphia jazz and music scene for over 60 years. Inspired to play music through his friendship with Albert "Tootie" Heath, the youngest of the Heath Brothers, Mr Reed has played a role in The Uptown Theater years and The Sound of Philadelphia years. Sam Reed has worked with Odean Pope, Teddy Pendergrass and led his own ensembles.
WORLDTOWN SOUNDSYSTEM
Worldtown Soundsystem is a live House/Techno band, complete with a groove-digging DJ, awesome vocalists and funky live musicians. The crew has made a huge noise, bringing sounds and rhythms from around the globe to a party near you. Having participated in the Coltrane At 90 Celebration in 2016, Worldtown returns to explore the relationship between gospel-influenced, House music and the deeply, spiritual creations of John Coltrane. This promises to be another Jam Supreme.

FORCE FOR GOOD SAX QUARTET
Mark Allen is a multi-reed artist from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He teaches saxophone performance and improvisation at the University of the Arts and is an active member of The Norman David Eleventet, Captain Black Big Band, Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, Puzzlebox, Fresh Cut Orchestra and several other Philadelphia/New York ensembles. He has worked with Marcus Belgrave, Wycliffe Gordon, Dick Oatts, Orrin Evans, Frank Lacy, and others.
Ole Mathisen is a Norwegian-born jazz musician and composer, living and working in NYC. He has performed with artists such as Louie Vega, Mino Cinelu, Eddie Gómez, Grady Tate, Claudio Roditi, Randy Brecker, Lew Soloff, Harvie Swartz, Bill Bruford, Kenny Barron, Bob Moses, Hilton Ruiz and others, He is the brother of jazz musicians Per Mathisen (bass), Hans Mathisen (guitar) and Nils Mathisen (keyboards, guitar and bass).
Jaleel Shaw is a Philadelphia-born and bred, alto & soprano saxophonist and winner of 2014 Downbeat Critics Poll's for Rising Star Alto Saxophonist. He is a longtime member of the Roy Haynes Quartet, Tom Harrell’s “Colors Of A Dream” and has performed with Christian McBride, Jason Moran, the Mingus Big Band, Pat Metheny, Stefon Harris, Roy Hargrove, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Jimmy Cobb and several others. He leads his own quartet, which performs frequently.

Chad Taylor is a composer, educator, percussionist and scholar who is a co-founder of the Chicago Underground ensemble. Taylor grew up in Chicago where he started performing professionally at the age of 15. He has worked with artists as diverse as Pharoah Sanders, Marc Ribot, Eric Revis, Kurt Rosenwinkle, Matana Roberts, Darius Jones, Lou Donaldson and Roscoe Mitchell. Chad leads his own band, Circle Down and works vigorously all acros the globe.
Bobby Zankel is an alto saxophonist and composer. Born in NYC, he came to Philadelphia in 1975 and has been an integral part of the city’s creative music scene ever since. He has worked with Jymie Merritt, Odean Pope, Johnny Coles and others. Zankel has composed and presented three jazz ballets and a jazz opera and he presently performs with the Warriors Of The Wonderful Sound: an ensemble formed to explore the compositions of forward-thinking composers.
