About The Performers:
Waverly Alston is a singer, songwriter, composer and choirmaster who has given his life to music ministry for over 20 years. In 1999, he formed “Waverly Alston In The Company of Friends” (WAITCF): a touring vocal ensemble with a message. WAITCF has performed at The Annenberg Center, Berks Jazz Festival, West Oak Lane Jazz Festival and numerous churches and venues along the east coast. Alston will bring a gospel-fueled interpretation of Coltrane's repetoire.
Willie Williams is a tenor saxophonist from Philadelphia, currently living in the North Jersey/NYC area. Over his career, he has worked with Art Blakey, Jackie Byard, Sam Rivers, Arthur Taylor, Clifford Jordan’s Big Band, Mingus Dynasty and T.S. Monk. He currently serves as musical director with another Philadelphian, Papo Vázquez’s, Mighty Pirate Orchestra and works and records with his own ensemble.
Alfie Pollitt is a Philly-based pianist, composer, arranger and educator. Pollitt began playing piano at the age of three. He is a versatile musician who performs Jazz, Latin, R&B and other genres. He has performed with Art Blakey, Philly Joe Jones, Odean Pope, Rufus Harley, Sonny Fortune, Lee Morgan, Rashan Roland Kirk, Teddy Pendergrass, Norman Connors, Johnny Hartman and Donald Byrd. Pollitt will be joined by drummer Alan Nelson and bassist, Richard Hill.
