About The Performer:
Billy Harper is a Houston, Texas-bred tenor saxman, considered one of the most dynamic of the first generation of Coltrane-influenced tenor saxophonists. Billy Harper has played with Art Blakey, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Max Roach, Randy Weston, Gil Evans and others. He has been an important bandleader for over 30 years and has recorded over 20 albums. He is also a founding member of the Cookers. Harper will be joined by Keyon Harrold (trumpet), Francesca Tanksley (piano), Hwansu Kang (bass) and Aaron Scott (drums).

Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary is a 2017, film by director John Scheinfeld. Produced with the support of the Coltrane family and record labels that collectively own the Coltrane catalog, Scheinfeld creates a compelling narrative. Set against the social, political and cultural landscape of the times, CHASING TRANE brings John Coltrane to life as a fully dimensional being, inviting the audience to engage with Coltrane the man, Coltrane the artist.
