Coltrane Society in 1994. Also included is “Coltrane's Philadelphia” by the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia – a 25-minute film.
"A few years ago, the Onion A/V club asked me to do a short video interview.... in front of the Coltrane House. When I pulled up, the Historic Marker... was gone. I ...was troubled by the absence of the sign. So I started to call around and got nowhere.... After leaving like 6-8 messages with different departments that went unreturned, I finally heard back from Rob Armstrong, who is involved with preservation in the parks and happens to be a jazz scholar. We began to brainstorm about raising awareness of Coltrane the first time we talked." - - - - - Tom Moon / Coltrane's Philadelphia Co-director & Producer
"There was a need for people to recognize that history was made here. That a world class muysician honed his craft here. More important, was revealing the monumental effort put in by Mary Alexander, Norman Gadson and Lenore Early to keep this history alive." - - - James Solomon / Contributing Writer - John Coltrane Place: Giant Steps Of Philadelphia
