Best Of Who Got The Jazz

Best of

For six months, from January to June of 2014, PJP and Veteran Freshman presented some powerfully entertaining evenings at World Cafe Live.

It was the Who Got The Jazz Series. We perfected a friendly and inventive mash-up of R&B/Jazz/Hip Hop, presenting some of Philly's hottest rappers, poets and singers, along with our house band, Nimrod Speaks-bass, Luke Carlos O'Reilly-drums and Khary Shaheed-drums, They were on fire, each and every night of the series. The Who Got The Jazz Series also celebrated key Jazz icons such as, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan and others.

If you missed it, you have one more shot....

Philly Jazz Quotes

The stuff McCoy Tyner did was earth-shattering for me. The modal thing, the way he voiced chords in fourths, the way he used the pentatonic scale -- all those things were very new.
