Welcome to Philadelphia Jazz Project

We’re All Winners

Jason Yung Winner

Since the Fall of 2014, Philadelphia Jazz Project and our partner, Jazz Near You/All About Jazz have been engaged in a campaign to remind Jazz fans of the vibrancy of the music, as well as introduce new audience members to the wonders of Jazz & Grown Folks Music. Our goal is to develop a mailing list of 100,000 people.

We’ve been facilitating a monthly raffle of a digital tablet.
You know, an iPad or a WinBook or some other smart handheld device.

We’re doing this because the audience needs to grow for this music.
It’s about sharing the richness that is our heritage and our contemporary reality.

As a Jazz & Grown Folks Music fan, you already know that Philadelphia had and still has some of the best musicians the world has ever seen.

Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Percy Heath, Jimmy Heath, Phyllis Hyman, Norman Connors, Stanley Clarke, Kenny Barron, Sun Ra, Byard Lancaster, Sonny Murray, Archie Shepp, Eric Reed, Rachelle Farrell, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Kevin Eubanks, Justin Faulkner, Jalil Shaw, Tim Warfield, Robin Eubanks, Bethlehem, Anwar Marshall, Luke Carlos O’Reilly, Francois Zayas and many others.

But, what if our artists gain the whole world, yet their neighbors don’t know their greatness?

If you have friends, relatives, neighbors and/or co-workers who you believe would love the music, but haven’t heard enough, share this digital tablet raffle opportunity with them. With their participation, we get to share news and info with them about upcoming concerts and events, and they also get a chance to win a digital tablet.

We should know the majesty of the artists who live right next door.

As Jazz & Grown Folks Music fans, we need to serve as ambassadors to inform, educate and share the good news about this music. Standing 100,000 strong, we can help the music and the musicians we know and love thrive on into the future.

Spread the word.

Our Winners From The Top:

Jason Yung, James Wynne, Gwen Blackshear, Arnold DiBlasio, Stephanie Stanford, Steven Franks and Lakesha White.

Philly Jazz Quotes

The stuff McCoy Tyner did was earth-shattering for me. The modal thing, the way he voiced chords in fourths, the way he used the pentatonic scale -- all those things were very new.
