Every Tuesday, the Leon Jordan Sr. Trio take the SOUTH stage for their weekly jam session. The band consists of drummer, Leon Jordan Sr., Jim Holton - piano and Nimrod Speaks - bass. Tuesday, September 19th in celebration of John Coltrane, the trio will be joined by saxophonists, Greg Riley and Ralph Bowen who will embark on a special musical journey inspired by legendary saxophone battles of the past. Think John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon and Wardell Gray, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Johnny Griffin. There are different three sets that evening to choose to witness this ensemble: 7pm - 8:30pm - 10pm. Expect a thrilling, free-flowing jam session with plenty of bright moments for the artists and audience alike.

This concert is also a presentation of Celebrating Coltrane 2017 in collaboration with The Free Library of Philadelphia, WRTI, PhillyCAM, WPPM, Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, South Jazz Cafe, Rittenhouse Soundworks and Jazz Near You. These events include concerts, discussions, screenings and broadcasts and will take place between September 18th to 24th, 2017.
