A Dose Of Electricity - The Mixtape

During the summer of 2015, Philadelphia Jazz Project, Turtle Studios and PhillyCAM recorded a diverse collection of performances by Philadelphia musicians who demonstrate their unique interpretations of the term, “Electricity.” Featuring hot performances by artists like trombonist and Center City Jazz Festival creator, Ernest Stuart, guitarist and Ornette Coleman protege, Charlie Ellerbe, journeyman drummer/educator Ronnie Burrage, sax man and composer Maxfield Gast and others.

Recorded at PhillyCAM Studios, these performances were gathered together into eight - 30 minute programs called the PhillyCAM Sessions: Electricity, which aired on Sundays at 7 p.m. throughout February and March of 2016 on PhillyCAM [Philadelphia’s Public Access Channel] which can be viewed on Comcast Channels 66 and 966 or Verizon Channels 29 and 30.

ELECTRICITY MIXTAPE MUSICIAN BIOS:
Ronnie Burrage is a St. Louis born and bred drummer, composer and educator. He has toured on all four continents from Siberia to South Africa to Japan and is featured on more than 100 recordings. Burrage has worked with Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius, Frank Morgan, Wallace Roney, Jackie & Rene McLean, James Moody, Gary Bartz, Archie Shepp, Reggie Workman, Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton, Woody Shaw, McCoy Tyner, Pepper Adams, Michael Brecker. Burrage has also been an influential teacher. He was Instructor at Penn State University, University of the Arts, and he is now a professor at Old Westbury College.
Charles Ellerbe is a Philadelphia-based Guitarist/Composer/Arranger with more than 30 years of professional experience. He has worked with such artists as Jazz organist, Charles Earland, classic Philly disco pioneers, The Trammps, violinist Noel Pointer, the Sun Ra Arkestra and most important, he spent 15 years as a member of Ornette Coleman's pivotal band, Prime Time. Currently, Charles Ellerbe leads his own ensemble, Matrix 12:38: A Focused Application Of A Concept On Time.
Maxfield Gast is a multi-instrumentalist and music producer from Philadelphia with projects used for various tv programs, feature films, web-streaming series and public radio. Gast’s music has been met with publishing and licensing deals including MTV and Sony Classic Films. It was also featured on five seasons of the Emmy Award winning series, "Louie" on FX Network. Gast has toured internationally, performing on some prestigious stages including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and Verizon Hall in Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center . Maxfield Gast has several solo albums as a featured artist on the Militia Hill label and has performed with Grammy Award winning bassist Bakithi Kumalo (of Paul Simon) and rock band, Cage The Elephant.
Jake Kelberman, a Philadelphia native, received a bachelors degree from Temple University, where he studied under musicians including Terell Stafford, Dick Oatts, Greg Kettinger, Bruce Barth and Ben Schacter. Jake has performed throughout the United States and Europe, at venues such as Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola at Lincoln Center in New York, The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and the Bimhuis in Amsterdam. Jake Kelberman was a prize winner in the 2017 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition in Switzerland, the 2016 Wilson Center Guitar Competition in Milwaukeeand the 2013 and 2014 "Keep An Eye" Jazz Competition in Amsterdam.
Parris Lové is a talented, Bay Area born-triple threat: singer, actress and dancer, who currently resides in Philadelphia. Trained in dance from the age of four with Bay Area greats like Debbie "Tamu" Beckward and Reginald Ray "Savage" of Savage Jazz Dance Company, Lové has also worked with the great modern dance legend Donald McKayle in the Oakland Ballet. While pursuing her passion in the arts, she earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business. As a triple threat Parris Lové has performed in venues across the US, including musicals such as "Chicago," and with her jazz band "Parris Lové and the Boots Davis Two."

Charles Patierno, known as Charlie, is a drummer, percussionist, producer, composer with a background that spans the worlds of Jazz, Funk, Hiphop, EDM and Pop. Born to two musicians in the NJ burbs of NYC, his pro career began in Philadelphia while still studying at the University of the Arts. Charlie has drumming/producing/writing/remix credits on major releases on Universal, UCJ, Decca, Verve, Def Jam, Ropeadope, Epic, Rostrum, Ultra and a handful of indie labels. He also has worked with The Roots, Melody Gardot, Jef Lee Johnson, Whiz Khalifa, Cypress Hill, Patty Crash, The Blue Method and others Charlie Patierno is an endorser of TRX Cymbals and Mono Cases.
Ernest Stuart is a trombonist, composer and the founder/artistic director of the Center City Jazz Festival. Stuart is a graduate of Temple University where he earned a B.A. in Jazz Performance. After college, he moved to New York City, where he performed at clubs such as The Village Vanguard, The Iridium, Smoke and The Blue Note. In 2010 Stuart, returned to Philadelphia to record his debut CD “Solitary Walker” released in 2011 followed by “Love/Loss” in 2014 and “Same Walking Animals” in 2015. In addition, to his solo efforts, Stuart was also a member of the Brooklyn-Bhangra band, Red Baraat.
