Welcome to Philadelphia Jazz Project
And The Beat Goes On!!!
Apr 3, 2020
Welcome to Jazz Appreciation Month 2020. Unfortunately, here we all are roughing out an unprecedented health crisis, which is ironically reminiscent of the average apocalyptic horror film as seen on Netflix. On the most part, we’re all staying at home, trying to stay positive and busy. To those of us that are venturing out everyday working at hospitals, fire houses, police stations, military bases and government buildings to keep us safe and well, to those working to provide services like electricity, water and gas, to those who drive the trucks and other vehicles that deliver goods and mail, as well those who provide us with food at our supermarkets and restaurants at this time, we owe you all a great debt and A LOVING THANK YOU!!!
Although our ability to move about has been significantly paralyzed, folks are hard at work trying to make this Jazz Appreciation Month meaningful. Two of those groups are Jazz Philadelphia and All About Jazz. Jazz Philadelphia is coordinating a Virtual Jazz Appreciation Month or “VJAM Philly.” All About Jazz is presenting Live From Our Living Rooms: An Online Music Festival and Fundraiser. All proceeds from this event will provide emergency relief to New York City jazz musicians whose careers have been impacted by COVID-19.

PAT MARTINO CAMPAIGN
Legendary Philly Jazz guitarist, Pat Martino has not worked since late 2018 due to severe health issues and is struggling to keep financially afloat. He's exhausted his savings and reaches out to the Jazz community for help. To support this effort, from March 15th to March 30th, 2020, Philadelphia Jazz Project and Books & Stuff will donate 50% from the online sales of our recent book, Philadelphia Jazz Stories Illustrated: Volume One to the Pat Martino Fund.
