This is our 5th Listening Party. Each party has been unique and exciting. Each one showcases great music, poets, comedians and of course, some of Philadelphia's best spaces. Our audiences have enjoyed the incredible locations as much as the music. And in case you missed out, a listening party is….

    •    A listening party is an entertaining gathering of folks.
    •    A listening party is an opportunity to hear great, local music.
    •    A listening party is a chance to hang out with old friends & new ones.
    •    A listening party is a chance to meet and support local musicians.
    •    A listening party is an opportunity to hear live comics & poets.
    •    A listening party is an opportunity to buy the CDs you hear.
    •    A listening party is free of charge.

Philadelphia Jazz Project in collaboration with the Germantown Artists Roundtable presents a fun-filled evening, showcasing recently released recordings from Philadelphia’s jazz musicians, facilitated by WRTI deejay, J. Michael Harrison. We present new music from CDs by Ella Gahnt, Ernest Stuart, Rick Lawn/Power of Ten, Kevin Valentine and more. This evening will also feature a special digital showcase of Germantown artists and performances by Germantown poets, Victoria Huggins Peurifoy, Yolanda Wisher and Darius Lantz.

Philly Jazz Quotes

The stuff McCoy Tyner did was earth-shattering for me. The modal thing, the way he voiced chords in fourths, the way he used the pentatonic scale -- all those things were very new.
