Philly Celebrates Jazz 2019 Photo Sessions

Philly Celebrates Jazz 2019 Photo Sessions

In today's, busy social media-focused climate, it is essential that artists have a strong media packages ready and at their disposal to share with the fans, venues, the media and their social media platforms. Critical to that media package are photographs of themselves. Professional photographs. The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Philadelphia Jazz Project, and All About Jazz / Jazz Near You have partnered to provide free professional photography sessions for local emerging jazz musicians as part of Philly Celebrates Jazz.

Understanding the importance of professional photography for marketing and promotional purposes, these free photo sessions will be awarded to ten local and emerging jazz musicians or bands by a lottery system. Interested jazz musicians can enter to win a photo session at the Philly Celebrates Jazz 2019 Kickoff on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The ten winners will be announced on International Jazz Day on April 30, 2019. The winning jazz musicians will be matched with one of two project photographers. The participating musicians and photographers will schedule sessions according to their availability with the understanding that all sessions be held before June 30, 2019. Final professional photographs will be provided to participating jazz musicians for their usage.

Philly Jazz Quotes

The stuff McCoy Tyner did was earth-shattering for me. The modal thing, the way he voiced chords in fourths, the way he used the pentatonic scale -- all those things were very new.
