Satellites Are Spinning: A Sizzling, Sonic Celebration of Sun Ra is a concert series featuring 8 performances at some of the region's most important venues including; The Barnes Foundation, Ardmore Music Hall, Johnny Brenda's, The Planetarium of The Franklin Institute and World Cafe Live. The series will showcase performances of musical selections from the catalogs of Sun Ra and former, Sun Ra Arkestra members, as well as otherworldly tunes by such diverse artists as Parliament, Funkadelic, Outkast, Benny Golson, Talking Heads, Earth, Wind & Fire, Albert King, Nona Hendryx, David Bowie, Return To Forever, John Coltrane & many more. The series is hosted by WRTI radio deejay, J. Michael Harrison.

Anyone 18 years of age or older may participate. All contestants must live in the Delaware Valley, specifically within 50 miles of Philadelphia’s City Hall. No PJP staff members, Ardmore Music Hall staff members, nor their immediate family members can participate in this contest.
