Something Special
Dec 24, 2013
On Sunday, December 15th 2013, something special happened. With the planning of witty co-producer, J. Michael Harrison, the wizardly help of pianist, musical director, Aaron Graves, and the gargantuan efforts of the Philadelphia Jazz Project's team of Melissa Talley-Palmer, Julia Lopez and Gail Fountaine, Frosty: A Cool Holiday Jazz Celebration materialized at the palatial, Irvine Auditorium. We had over 500 smiling souls and some of Philly's best musicians. There was great music and wonderful fellowship, between the musicians and the audience.
If you weren't there, you missed something special.
2013 was a great year. We had wonderful events, made new friends and reconnected with old ones. We introduced Philadelphians to marvelous places and artists that most were unaware of previously. We encouraged folks to sit a spell and take a listen, gave away great prizes and got lots of people excited about Philadelphia's Jazz community.
So, what's next?
2014 will bring, collaborations with Hiphop/R&B producers, Veteran Freshman and PhillyCam, community media makers/educators. The Philadelphia Songbook Project - Volume One [directed by Alfie Pollitt], A Jazz Dance Party, Still The New Thing: Festival of Avant Garde Jazz [directed by Bobby Zankel], more concerts, more discussions and more of you!
